All the schools and most of the offices were closed today due to the bandh called over the Mahadayi River dispute. The central business district was largely affected and police were deployed near town hall. The protesters demonstrated outside Manyata Tech park. Most of the offices in MBP had declared holiday or Work from Home (WFH). Many techies who had plan to leave outside the city in the evening may have to reschedule and leave later in the night or tomorrow. The effect of Bandh will be maximum between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Most of he schools sent an email yesterday itself
“Dear Parents,The school will remain closed on the 25th January, 2018, as a matter of precaution for the safety of the students.”
Most of the IT companies have asked their employee to come to office on the following Saturday, 3rd of February. They sent an email yesterday. See below
Email 1 (A large product company in Koramangala)
Dear Colleagues,
As you are aware, Kannada organisations and farmers have decided to hold bandh in Karnataka on 25th January 2018 over Mahadayi river water sharing row and most of the services like transport etc., are likely to shut down in Bangalore.
In view of safety of our employees during this Bandh period, we recommend employees working in regular office hours (9am to 5-30pm) to work from home tomorrow and critical service employees are requested to reach office before 6am and stay back post their shifts to avoid commute during Bandh hours.
Employees who wish to avail early morning cab to reach office by 6am , are requested to send an email to tye transport department so that cabs will be arranged accordingly.
For employees who work in different shifts Cabs will be arranged for evening drops from 6:30pm onwards and normal pick up’s post Bandh will resume from 7:30pm log in onwards (Inclusive buffer timing 20:00 Hrs.). We request Services & Dev Managers to ensure the cab scheduling is done through Soigne transport automation tool accordingly.
For any clarification or help, please feel free to revert to the HR, Gambhir Kant
We have requested our existing caterer to make Breakfast & Lunch arrangements for tomorrow ,however the delivery of food would depend on the severity of the situation on Bangalore roads ,also we have ensured sufficient stock of regular cafeteria subsidiaries like bread, jam, butter, egg, noodles and fruits are in place.
Regards,
HR Team
